The Kitchen Table

I remember when NBC used to do their public service announcements, they did one on the importance of family time around the kitchen table, sharing a meal.  I must be honest, I really didn’t believe that it would be possible to have so much fun laughing with my wife and kids while eating dinner.  What I discovered in these raw, unscripted moments was that my kids have a great sense of humor and to watch them interact with me and each other was truly awesome.  They cracked jokes and seemed to enjoy each others’ company.  The fun started with a discussion on how old they could be before they could have boyfriends\girlfriends.  Of course I responded with, when you guys are out of my house paying your own bills.  The fun blew up from there.  I will not bore you with the details, but it is safe to say it will be one of those moments I will hold close to my heart.  My children are getting older everyday and I must take advantage of these moments whenever possible.  So take you spouse and children and eat a meal together.  Take time to laugh with them and at them.  You may be surprised by what you learn.
